Migrating Your Website using Plesk Website Importer

The following article guides you to migrate your website from hsphere to Plesk using plesk website importer. Using website importer is the easy way to migrate all your data as it automates all process but unfortunately website importer may not work in all cases so consider yourself lucky if this works for you. Otherwise you need to use the manual method here.

To begin migrating content, follow these steps:

  1. Login to your plesk control panel
  2. Go to Websites & Domains  and click Website Importing.
  3. Specify your website's domain name, and also FTP username and password used in hspere.
  4. Click Ok.

Plesk will try to connect to the source website and scan it for content. If the connection is successful, it is time to select which content to migrate.

You can migrate one or more objects of the following types:

  • WordPress installations.
  • Folders.
  • Databases.

Migrating WordPress Installations

Plesk automatically scans the source website in the hsphere for the presence of WordPress installations and lists them. You can migrate any of these WordPress installations to the destination Plesk server. Plesk will migrate the selected WordPress installations from the source website to the destination, including all its files and the database.

To migrate a WordPress installation, follow these steps:

  1. Under "WordPress", select the WordPress installation(s) that you want to migrate.
  2. If desired, change the location on the destination server where the files of the WordPress installation being migrated will be placed.
  3. Click Start Import.

You will see the installation's status change from "Ready for import" to "Queued" to "In progress". Once the status changes to "Imported", the WordPress installation has been migrated and can be accessed in the WordPress Toolkit (Websites & Domains > WordPress).

Synchronizing Migrated WordPress Installations

Any time after you have migrated a WordPress installation, you can migrate it again by selecting the corresponding checkbox and clicking the Re-sync button. Note that this will overwrite any changes you may have made to the installation on the destination plesk server.

Migrating Folders

You can use the Web Site Migration feature to migrate individual folders with all included files and subfolders from the source website to the destination.

To migrate a folder, follow these steps:

  1. Under "Files", click Add Folder to Import and browse to the folder you want to migrate. Optionally, you can specify the desired location for the folder on the destination server, relative to the destination website's document root directory.
  2. Click Ok.

All subfolders of that folder, as well as all files within those folders will be migrated as well.

Synchronizing Folders

Any time after you have migrated a folder, you can migrate it again by selecting the corresponding checkbox and clicking the Re-sync button. Note that this will overwrite any changes you may have made to the folder or its contents on the destination server.

Migrating Databases

You can use the Web Site Migration feature to migrate individual databases from the source website to the destination.

Note: This feature supports only MySQL.

To migrate a database, follow these steps:

  1. Under "Databases", click Add Database to Import.
  2. Specify the database connection information on the source server and click Ok.
Note- The database details used in hsphere can be found under Databases > MySQL Server

Synchronizing Databases

Any time after you have migrated a database, you can migrate it again by selecting the corresponding checkbox and clicking the Re-sync button. Note that this will overwrite any changes you may have made to the database or its contents on the destination server.
